When you’re selling candles in the UK or EU, your labels must comply with CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) rules. These rules are put in place to ensure customers know exactly what’s in the product and how to use it safely in their homes.
In relation to Candle labels, your labels must include the correct hazard statements, signal words, allergen information, and precautionary details based on the fragrance oils or ingredients used.
If your candle contains substances that could cause allergic reactions or irritation, this information must be clearly displayed on the label. You’ll also need to include the supplier’s details and the appropriate warning icons on the label itself.
If you’re not sure what details need to be included on your candle sticker to comply with these regulations, we advise you to check the CLP data sheet for your fragrance oils. This data sheet should provide details on the correct hazard phrases, allergens and icons to include.
